Why do people want such unreasonable trades over the GTS?

Examples:

The Pokemon on offer is a Lv. 8 female Aipom with no held item. The trainer wants PALKIA in return.

Offer is Lv. 26 Azurill. Trainer wants a Lv. 100 male Tropius in return.

Offer-Lv. 40 Glameow. Wants-Dialga.

Why? You are never going to get that trade!

I know only one person on my F-list is going to get this. I needed to vent. Sue me.

I know. I was looking for Burmies and slowpokes, but everyone wanted either a legendary or a ridiculously high level pokemon. It's easier to offer up your own pokemon for something you want.

Yeah, my sister was looking for Burmy. No one wanted a reasonable trade and no one was taking her offer. Yet somehow, I put up a female Combee and got a steel coat Burmy. Then again, Combee is rare to start with and the female is rarer still. =/ And I caught one after I traded for one. Version specific ones seem to be easy trades. And you can dig up fossils like crazy. Those are also version specific, at least before the Elite Four, so I like to offer a version specific critter holding a fossil. Sweetens the deal, ya' know?

Incidentally, I wish a had a Lv. 100 Hitmontop. Someone wants one for a Lv. 100 alternate color Dialga! Though I don't know if that trade is still there; that was hours ago.
